ATV and Snowmobiling
We are located near the Tuscobia Trail, 74 miles
of wilderness used by hikers, bikers, ATVs, and
snowmobilers.
We have direct access to the Dead Horse ATV
trail, which offers access to over 100 miles of
trails.
When the lake freezes over, you can snowmobile
right from your front door onto the lake and
enter a large snowmobile trail system taking you
all over the state.
Biking
Butternut is a great location for bicyclists. Not
only can you ride on various terrains, but you will
ride through amazing natural beauty. The
Flambeau 40 race is held in September.
Fishing
Butternut Lake is a 1,006 acre body of water on
the northern end of Price County and the
southern end of Ashland County.
It is a Class A Musky lake. Walleye and crappie
are other favorites for area anglers. You can fish
off the dock or bring a fishing boat (one per
cottage).

Hiking
Take a stroll through beautiful Copper Falls State
Park located just a few miles north of Butternut,
or take a day trip to Madeline Island and hike
around the quaint island. Visit the museum and
shops. The national forests are available for your
nature hikes, too. Don't forget your camera.
Hunting
Located between the Ruffed Grouse Capital
(Park Falls) and the Black Bear Capital (Glidden),
Butternut is ideally situated for hunters. The
Chequamegon and Nicolet National Forests are a
hunter's paradise. The Ruffed Grouse Fall
Festival is held in October. The cottages are
within 5 miles of county and federal land where
you can hunt.

Kayaking
Butternut Lake is a great lake for kayakers. In the
early morning hours, when the lake is as smooth
as glass, is a perfect time to launch your kayak.
Relaxing
Your vacation should be an opportunity to
unwind and enjoy life.
So, maybe all you want to do is sit on your deck
with a beverage and a book. Go ahead. Kick back
with your feet up and listen to the loons, watch
the eagles, or catch a glimpse of the deer that
frequently visit.
Swimming
Of course you can swim in the lake. For those
who prefer sparkling water, Park Falls has a very
nice public pool. Call 715-762-2311 for pool
hours.
